Meet Sharon

I am Sharon Horswell, I founded Autism Hope and Future after a successful career in the public sector in response to the need for a timely and specialist service for children, adults, their families and professionals affected by and working with complex communication difficulties such as autism.

I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), having graduated from University College London in 1986. In 29 years with the NHS I worked in diverse settings, with adults and children, in homes, mainstream and special educational settings and the workplace. My most recent NHS post was Clinical Lead SLT for Autism for Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust.

I have specialist skills in assessment and therapeutic intervention for Autism and other complex communication difficulties and am a trained and experienced Expert Witness.

My approach - working together with the client, their family and professionals, ensures that everyone develops skills and confidence in supporting the person in everyday life to bring about progress, celebrating success together.
